Create a zine with Microsoft Word and it printable version

Facebook and Instagram are great examples of publishing ideas to young people. On the other hand, it requires having technology to see it. The Cédrika Provencher Foundation is involved in the online publication of Zine. The Zine has become popular for distributing ideas in scrapbook form.

Create a Zine with a Word Document

We suggest you use Word because it is available on the majority of computers in our schools. If you’re using a ChromeBook, Google Docs is an online solution for doing the same type of document.

Insert images in the text

You have written inspirational text but a picture is worth a thousand words.

  1. Move the cursor from the mouse (arrow) to the desired position of your image.
  2. Click the Insert menu, choose Image.
  3. You search for your image and it appears instead of the cursor.

Insert movable text blocks

A Zine allows you to create a more artistic content so here’s how to put a movable text block on the page:

  1. Move the cursor from the mouse (arrow) to the desired position of your image.
  2. Click the Insert menu, choose Text block.
  3. You are looking for your block of text instead of the cursor. You can add your own and move it as you wish.

You have created your document and you have to transform it into PDF (portable document format):

    1. In Word, click Save As .. (File Menu);
    2. Your file is saved and appears in the associated application in PDF format;
    3. Press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac).
  1. By choosing the Booklet option, the pages of your Zine will be sorted to print in the right place on the paper.
